Totally Ridiculous? or Totally Cool?
I suppose that depends on where on the scale of total lameness you currently rank. Personally, I do anything and everything to avoid being that guy. But for some, I suppose, it might be an improvement….. No. Let’s just stop there. Verdict: Definitely totally ridiculous and lame to the dorkiest degree.
This is a novelty item only–solely intended for the Brookstone/Spenser’s Gifts market. The manufacturers should expect zero repeat business , and givers of this gift should expect annoyed recipients who wear the item once (in their own living room) and throw it in the garbage where it belongs.

I say this is cool. We need to get more weird, futuristic looking objects into everyday life. If someone from the fifties were to show up now they’d be totally unimpressed. Where are the flying cars? The robot butler? The entire roast dinner in handy pill form? We’re doing ourselves an injustice by not getting moving on this. Break out that silver shirt you bought. Wear those see-through trousers with your size-adjustable shoes. Travel by conveyer belt past the Jetsons’ house on your way to work, where your secretary-bot brings you some coffee.
Let’s throw off these mundane shackles we have forged. The past is dead. Time to look to the future, and get designing the objects we’re gonna need.
Ha ha. Good one Rob. I have to say, though, I don’t think we’re going to produce any impressive wear until we get cranking on the nanotechnology. There’s some exciting stuff happening in the field, but we’re still a far cry from stable, affordable, readily available materials.
In any case, ‘Wear a chair’ isn’t exactly the vision I have for the future. I’m thinking lightweight bullet-proof materials and holograms galore, and some maybe teleportation thrown in for kicks;-)
i’d like to add another comment. there seems to be a hell of a lack of discussion going on on this site. people leave comments saying, oh yes i agree or i leave a comment making a joke. beyond that theres nothing. no discourse whatsoever. at least reply to ask me to stop making shit jokes! c’mon people, steve is posting up some good topics here. surely we cant all have the same opinions??
