REALITY ON A STICK

Mitt Romney: Dufus Extraordinaire

July 22, 2007 · 5 Comments

Let me start by saying that I know nothing about this candidate. I don’t need to. Anyone dumb enough to hold up this sign while campaigning for the Presidency probably can’t spell his own name with toy blocks.

Kiss of death image.

TMZ obtained photos of presidential candidate Mitt Romney trying to win over grammatically challenged South Carolinians Thursday by holding a sign that said, “No to Obama, Osama and Chelsea’s Moma.”

Maybe he just doesn’t like modern art?

So I’ll restate my general position, and more succinctly this time: The form of democracy that is practiced in the U.S. is a farce for one simple reason: the average voter is about as politically savvy as Chaka from Land of the Lost.Chaka

And when you’re that ignorant, you’ll believe anyone and anything.

Marshall, Will, and Holly: “Hey Chaka, Alice just said she wants to talk to you about something.”

Chaka: “Really!?! Cool!”

(Cultural reference: Alice is a T-Rex that would like to eat them all.)

In principle, I favor any form of democracy that allows greater participation by constituents, BUT when geographic illiteracy and religious fanaticism are the soups du jour, and you’ve got people running around thinking that “God made Adam and Eve, NOT Adam and Steve!” is a winning debate closer, or that “No to Obama, Osama, and Chelsea’s M[a]ma” is a winning campaign slogan, I say it’s high time to get conquered and enslaved by beings of higher intelligence than ourselves.

It's a Cookbook!

…or served up as their lunch.

( Sigh) It might be time dust off those old plans to start a cult commune in the countryside;-)

a couple of us were just discussing the same thing on my post about Iraq. Exit polls make it clear that the American public preference religious ideals more than policy positions. It’s pathetic.

aikaterine: Thanks so much for stopping by and joining the discussion. I just read through the comments in your post on the Iraq war and found it to be a riveting discussion. Thanks for providing some evidence that fruitful discourse on politics is alive and well. I hope to join in future conversations on your blog.

Reading through your blog, I see a great deal of overlap in our views and backgrounds. I also did a double major (Philosophy/English) as an undergrad a while back. Very nice writing and quotes (BTW–you rock for throwing that Cure lyric into the mix!…’just to feel my heart for a second’)!

    Talk soon,
    Steve

you seem to be missing something far more ridiculous than the sign. the man’s name is mitt romney. let me say that one more time. mitt. romney. not only does he go out in public but he broadcasts to the nation that he has the most preposterously stupid name ever.
regarding the political savvy of the american voter, while the slogans being shouted are no worse than those quoted above they are used in the same spirit over here in ireland and in the uk. for christ’s sake, tony blair (a man who pretty much bent over and dropped trow at georgie w.’s command) was prime minister of britain for ten years! ten years where the most powerful man in the uk was a preening, spineless gobshite who cared more about how he was going to come across on sky news than he ever did about what he was doing to the country.
lastly, the cult. i’m interested and i’d like to get in on the ground floor. i have a compound in a remote location you may be interested in?

    His name is rather unfortunate.

    Steve,

Oh the joys of the double major. Glad that you paid us a visit. And please do stop by to chat. We are nothing if not verbose.

    This is late… but I stumbled across it… so here I am…
I often think about how there must be, or were, beings of higher intelligence than humans on Earth, early 2000s,…
Evidence hidden or destroyed all over the world… reminding me that there is a mode of thinking that, in order for some to ‘feel’ superior, they must keep the masses down… instead of being and thinking superiorly.
Many are thinking differently today, hopefully it is in time to turn things around… because the greed of the ’sons/daughters of belial’ were this close to running everything into the ground… just like many times over, throughout history…
    thanks for the vent…
